Due to the spectral characteristics of the optical lens and optical filters used in a camera system, the lighting of the scene, and the spectral characteristics of the color filters of the image sensor, the RGB data of the camera may not provide a faithful color rendition. Specially, the spectral characteristics of the image sensor are different from the spectral response of the human eye. This unfaithful color rendition is mostly generated from the differences between the spectral characteristics of the imager color filter array and the spectral response of the human eye, and the lighting of the scene. The color error caused from the lighting of the scene can be controlled by an auto white balance. But the auto white balance can't sufficiently reduce the color error generated by the spectral characteristics of the imager color filter array. Our color correction core uses 3x3 color matrix. The color matrix values can be automatically obtained by using our color correction software and the Macbeth Color Checker.
